Professional grade epoxy is 100% epoxy solids, which is the most durable form of epoxy. Most DIY epoxy kits are from 40% or less epoxy solids. These low quality products will wear down easily and will not last long. Another reason is the concrete preparation; in order for the epoxy to last a long time, it needs to have a good bond to the concrete. To achieve the desired bond, you need to diamond grind the concrete with the proper equipment. If you don’t prepare correctly, the epoxy will pop and chip.
Typically, epoxy floors are not slippery. However, the metallic floors are smooth, so if water gets on them it can be slippery. If you are concerned with slipping, we do offer aluminum oxide additive to the top coat that will make your floors completely slip resistant.
Epoxy floors are low maintenance and clean easily with warm water.
